Mean sea level
Groynes in coastal engineering (CIRIA C793), published by CIRIA in 2020, defines mean sea level as the: ‘Average height of the sea surface over a 19-year period.’
It defines mean high water as: ‘The average of all high waters observed over a sufficiently long period.’
And mean low water as: ‘The average of all low waters observed over a sufficiently long period.’
